LSU vs. Iowa: Who Won The NCAA Women's Basketball Championship?
LSU and Iowa played in the NCAA women's basketball championship game in Dallas, Texas, on Sunday. The LSU Tigers defeated the Iowa Hawkeyes, 102-85, to win their first NCAA women’s basketball national championship in school history.

BROKEN RECORDS

Jasmine Carson led the Tigers with 22 points, 21 of which came in the first half, when LSU shot an incredible 58% from the field, including 75% from three-point range. LSU scored 59 points in the first half, setting a new record for the most points scored in a half in a women’s championship game. LSU's offensive performance also broke the record for most points scored in a women's championship game, with 102 points.

Caitlin Clark scored 30 points for Iowa, setting a new record for the most points scored in a women’s tournament with 191, breaking Sheryl Swoopes' previous record of 177 points set in 1993 playing for Texas Tech.

Hall of Fame coach Kim Mulkey secured LSU’s first women’s basketball championship in just her second year at the helm for the Tigers. She became the first women's coach to win national championships at two different schools, previously winning three at Baylor.

IOWA’S SUPER STAR: CAITLIN CLARK

Iowa's Caitlin Clark did her best to keep the Hawkeyes in the game, scoring 30 points and setting a new record for the most points scored in a women's tournament. But it was not enough to overcome LSU's balanced scoring attack and record-breaking offensive performance.

LSU’S OFFENSE

LSU's offense was the difference in the game, as they set numerous records and outscored Iowa by 17 points in the first half. Carson's incredible performance in the first half set the tone for the Tigers, who had five players score in double figures. Carson finished with 22 points, followed by Khayla Pointer with 18 points and Tiara Young with 17 points. Angel Reese, who had been outstanding for LSU throughout the tournament, finished the game with 15 points.

HALL OF FAME COACH: KIM MULKEY

LSU's victory is a testament to the hard work and dedication of the team, led by coach Kim Mulkey. Mulkey, who won three national championships at Baylor before taking over at LSU, has now won four titles in her career, the third-most all-time behind Geno Auriemma's 11 and Pat Summitt's eight. Mulkey's ability to inspire her team and get the best out of her players was on full display in the championship game, as LSU played with confidence and intensity from start to finish.

CONCLUSION

The LSU Tigers defeated the Iowa Hawkeyes 102-85 to win the program's first NCAA women's basketball national championship in school history. LSU's offensive performance, led by Jasmine Carson in the first half, set numerous records and proved to be too much for Iowa to overcome. Caitlin Clark had an outstanding game for Iowa, setting a new record for the most points scored in a women's tournament, but it was not enough to prevent LSU from winning the championship. Coach Kim Mulkey's leadership and coaching ability were instrumental in LSU's victory, as she became the first women's coach to win national championships at two different schools.
