Pete Alonso is an American professional baseball player born on December 7, 1994, in Tampa, Florida. He plays as a first baseman for the New York Mets of Major League Baseball (MLB).
Alonso played college baseball at the University of Florida before being selected by the New York Mets in the second round of the 2016 MLB draft. He made his MLB debut in 2019 and quickly established himself as a dominant player, setting a rookie record with 53 home runs that season.
Throughout his career, Alonso has been recognized for his power hitting and impressive offensive performance. He was named an All-Star in 2019 and won the Home Run Derby in the same year. Alonso continues to be a key player for the Mets and is considered one of the top first basemen in the league.
Off the field, Alonso is involved in several charitable organizations, including the Tackle Kids Cancer program, which raises funds and awareness for pediatric cancer research.
