Ausar Thompson, born on January 30, 2003, is an American professional basketball player currently playing for the Detroit Pistons of the National Basketball Association (NBA). Hailing from Fort Lauderdale, Florida, Thompson attended Pine Crest School, where he achieved significant success in basketball, winning a state title and earning a five-star recruit rating. Rather than completing his senior year of high school, Thompson chose to sign with Overtime Elite (OTE), a professional development league.
During his time at OTE, Thompson showcased his skills and achieved remarkable milestones, including two consecutive OTE titles. He received the Finals Most Valuable Player (MVP) award twice and was also honored as the league MVP in 2023. Notably, Thompson shares a twin brother, Amen Thompson, who is also a basketball player. In the 2023 NBA Draft, Ausar Thompson was selected as the 5th overall pick by the Detroit Pistons, marking an exciting new chapter in his basketball career.
