Born in Louisiana, De'Aaron Fox grew up playing basketball and quickly developed a passion for the game. But it was in Texas where he really began to make a name for himself. As a standout player for Cypress Lakes High School in Katy, Texas, Fox quickly caught the attention of scouts and coaches around the country.

In his junior year, Fox averaged an impressive 23.8 points, 6.1 rebounds, and 3.5 assists per game, earning first-team honors in the Nike Elite Youth Basketball League Circuit (EYBL). He followed that up with an even more impressive senior season, averaging 32.1 points, 7.6 rebounds, and 4.1 assists per game, and leading his team to a regional final appearance.

Throughout his high school career, Fox demonstrated the kind of skill and athleticism that would eventually make him one of the top prospects in the country. He was named a McDonald's All-American in January 2016 and played in the McDonald's All-American Game later that year, where he showed off his impressive ball-handling and scoring ability.

After high school, Fox committed to play college basketball for the Kentucky Wildcats. During his freshman year, he established himself as one of the top point guards in the country, leading Kentucky to a 32-6 record and a berth in the Elite Eight of the NCAA Tournament. He was named to the SEC All-Freshman Team and was a finalist for the Bob Cousy Award, which is given to the top point guard in college basketball.

After just one year at Kentucky, Fox declared for the NBA draft and was selected by the Sacramento Kings with the fifth overall pick. In his first three seasons with the Kings, Fox has continued to impress, averaging over 20 points and 7 assists per game in the 2020-2021 season. He was even named the NBA Clutch Player of the Year for his heroics in close games.
