Holiday was born to basketball-loving parents Shawn and Toya Holiday. Both of his parents played college basketball at Arizona State, with Toya earning Pac-10 Player of the Year honors in 1982. With that kind of pedigree, it's no wonder that Jrue grew up with a love of the game.

Jrue attended Campbell Hall School in the Los Angeles district of Studio City, California. It was there that he began to hone his skills and develop into the player that he is today. As a senior, he put up some impressive numbers, averaging 25.9 points, 11.2 rebounds, 6.9 assists, and 4.8 steals per game. He led his team to a 31-5 record and helped them win the California Division IV state title.

His performance on the court did not go unnoticed. He was rated the No. 1 point guard and the No. 2 overall prospect in the Class of 2008 by Rivals.com. In addition, he was named the 2008 Gatorade National Player of the Year and a Parade first-team All-American. He capped off his high school career by playing in the McDonald's All-American Game, where he tallied 14 points, 5 rebounds, 3 assists, and 5 steals.

From those impressive beginnings, Holiday went on to play for the UCLA Bruins in college before being drafted by the Philadelphia 76ers in 2009. He spent six seasons with the Sixers before being traded to the New Orleans Pelicans in 2013. After seven seasons with the Pelicans, he was traded to the Milwaukee Bucks in 2020.

Despite his success at the professional level, Holiday has never forgotten his roots. He continues to be an inspiration to young basketball players everywhere, showing that with hard work and determination, anything is possible.
