Ricky Rubio is a Spanish professional basketball player born on October 21, 1990, in El Masnou, Spain. He plays as a point guard for the Cleveland Cavaliers of the National Basketball Association (NBA).
Rubio began his professional career in Spain and played for several teams before being selected fifth overall in the 2009 NBA draft by the Minnesota Timberwolves. He played for the Timberwolves for six seasons before being traded to the Utah Jazz in 2017. In 2019, he was traded back to the Timberwolves before being traded again to the Phoenix Suns in 2020. In 2021, he signed with the Cleveland Cavaliers as a free agent.
Throughout his career, Rubio has been recognized as one of the top passers and playmakers in the NBA. He is a one-time NBA All-Star and has also played for the Spanish national team, helping them win a gold medal at the 2019 FIBA Basketball World Cup.
