Sandy Alcantara is a professional baseball player born on September 7, 1995, in San Juan de la Maguana, Dominican Republic. He signed with the St. Louis Cardinals as an international free agent in 2013 and made his major league debut with the team on June 29, 2017.
Alcantara was traded to the Miami Marlins in December 2017 and has since become a key member of the team's starting rotation. In 2019, he had a breakout season, posting a 3.88 ERA with 151 strikeouts in 197.1 innings pitched. He was named an All-Star in 2021 after going 7-10 with a 3.16 ERA and 176 strikeouts in 193.2 innings pitched.
