Patty Mills is one of the most talented and exciting Australian players in the world today. Known for his incredible speed, agility, and scoring ability, Mills has become a fan favorite both in the NBA and on the international stage. But did you know that he got his start playing college basketball? Yes, Mills played college basketball for Saint Mary's College of California beginning in the 2007-08 season.

After signing with the Gaels in November 2006, Mills quickly established himself as a star on the team. He was named the WCC Newcomer of the Year and earned All-WCC First Team honors after helping the Gaels earn a top 25 ranking for the first time in decades. He started all 32 games for the team as a freshman, posting impressive stats including a team-high 14.8 points, 2.1 rebounds, 3.5 assists, and 1.8 steals per game.

Mills also set a Saint Mary's freshman record for points in a season with 472 and set the school freshman mark for points in a game with a 37-point performance against Oregon. He was also named WCC Player of the Week three times throughout the season, showing just how much of an impact he had on the team.

As a sophomore in 2008-09, Mills continued to shine on the court, averaging 18.4 points, 3.9 assists, 2.4 rebounds, and 2.2 steals in 32.1 minutes. He was named WCC Player of the Week twice and was subsequently named All-WCC First Team for a second straight year.

Mills' college career was cut short when he declared for the NBA draft in April 2009, forgoing his final two years of college eligibility. But his time playing college basketball helped him develop into the incredible player he is today, and fans of the sport continue to marvel at his talent and skill on the court.
