Metcalf's debut game in September 2019 was a sign of things to come, as he set a franchise record for total receiving yards by a player making his NFL debut, with 89 yards. In Week 2 against the Pittsburgh Steelers, Metcalf caught his first career touchdown, and in Week 8 against the Atlanta Falcons, he recorded his first career game with multiple touchdowns.

In the 2021 season, Metcalf's impressive plays continued, including a 84-yard touchdown catch-and-run with quarterback Geno Smith for the Seahawks' Week 7 Sunday Night Football game against the New Orleans Saints. He also had a standout performance in Week 16, where he caught six receptions for 63 yards and a career-high three touchdowns, contributing 18 points in a blowout 51–29 win against the Detroit Lions.
