Christian Pulisic was one of the United States Men’s National Soccer Team’s star players at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar. He scored the only goal in the game against Iran on Tuesday, securing an electrifying showdown between them and the Netherlands in the last-16 round. However, in scoring the decisive goal Pulisic injured himself, raising concerns that he could have missed out on the USMNT’s first knockout match at a World Cup since Brazil 2014.

Pulisic let the world know on social media that he would be ready to play in Saturday's World Cup game against Netherlands, despite suffering a pelvic contusion. Later the US tweeted to say that he would be assessed "day-to-day" after the injury.

A pelvic contusion is a bruising of the pelvic bone. It can be caused by a fall, or in Christian Pulisic's case, by scoring the winning goal in a World Cup match. The injury was initially called an abdominal injury that included some dizziness, but it has since been confirmed that the main issue is with his pelvic bone.

Pulisic is an incredible player with fantastic skills on the ball. He has a tendency to rise to the occasion when it matters most, as evidenced by his goal against Iran in this year's World Cup. Unfortunately, he was injured during that game and had to be removed from play.

“I didn’t get, like, hit in the balls,” he added. “I’m alright. I’m alright. It was very painful and that bone is there for a reason to protect you, I think, and I hit it well. It was sore, but like I said I’m getting better.”

Christian Pulisic recovered enough to be able to play against the Netherlands despite being injured in the previous game. However, the USMNT was unable to win against the Netherlands, losing 3-1. The loss marks the end of the US' run at the World Cup, and a disappointing end to Christian Pulisic's stellar performance. Despite this unfortunate outcome, we can be proud of what Christian Pulisic has accomplished in his time on the national team, and look forward to seeing his continued success in future games.
