What Are Dylan Cease’s Career Highs?

What Are Dylan Cease’s Career Highs?
Dylan Cease is a professional baseball player who currently pitches for the Chicago White Sox. Over the course of his career, he has achieved a number of impressive career highs that have cemented his status as one of the most talented young pitchers in the MLB.

Cease's career began in high school, where he played for Milton High School in Milton, Georgia. During his junior year, he helped lead the team to a state championship, posting a 9-0 record with an ERA of 0.81 in 69.1 innings pitched. He also struck out 100 batters that season. Cease was highly touted as a prospect heading into his senior year, but a partial tear of the ulnar collateral ligament (UCL) in his pitching arm caused him to fall in the draft.

Despite his injury, Cease was selected by the Chicago Cubs in the sixth round of the 2014 MLB draft. He signed with the team and underwent Tommy John surgery to repair his UCL. Cease made his professional debut in 2015, pitching for the Arizona Cubs of the Rookie-level Arizona League. In 11 games, he held batters to a .145 average.

Cease continued to improve over the next few seasons, making his MLB debut in 2019 for the White Sox. That season, he posted an impressive 9.99 strikeouts per 9 innings, which was the highest in White Sox history by a rookie. In 2020, Cease was 5-4 with a 4.01 ERA, leading the American League in walks per 9 innings and home runs per 9 innings.

In 2021, Cease had a breakout season for the White Sox, making 32 starts and posting a 13-7 record with an ERA of 3.91. He pitched 165.2 innings and struck out 226 batters, leading the American League in K/9 with 12.3. Cease also made his first career postseason start in Game 3 of the 2021 ALDS against the Houston Astros.

Cease's success continued into the 2022 season, where he was named the June and July AL Pitcher of the Month. He carried a no-hitter into the ninth inning of a game against the Minnesota Twins, finishing the complete game shutout with one hit and seven strikeouts. Cease finished the 2022 season with a 14-8 record and an ERA of 2.20, ranking second in the AL.

In conclusion, Dylan Cease has achieved a number of impressive career highs throughout his time in the MLB, including leading the White Sox in strikeouts by a rookie and leading the American League in K/9. His talent and potential as a pitcher are clear, and he is sure to continue to make a name for himself in the league in the coming seasons.
