Damian Lamonte Ollie Lillard was born in Oakland, California on July 15th, 1990 to parents Gina Johnson and Houston Lillard Sr. By the time Damian was a teenager, his parents had separated and he chose to live with his father. He grew up in the Brookfield district of East Oakland, an area known for its high crime rates and dangerous streets. Despite this difficult environment, both of Damian's parents strongly encouraged him to focus on basketball and stay out of trouble.
