In 2020, Under Armour released a new line of shoes called Embiid 1. The shoes were designed in collaboration with Joel Embiid, the superstar center for the Philadelphia 76ers. Under Armour has a long history of working with top athletes to create innovative and high-performance athletic gear, and the Embiid 1's were no exception. They had a decent response from fans, despite being released during the pandemic, and everyone was eagerly anticipating the release of his second shoe, the Embiid 2.

In March of 2021 photos of the Embiid 2 were leaked online, creating quite the buzz among fans of "The Process". Under Armour, however, scrambled to try and stop the leak and since then we haven't heard ANYTHING about the Embiid 2's being released from official sources.

If we take a look at the leaked pictures, we see that these shoes featured many design changes. Under Armour went with an insole with Embiid's name and jersey number on them, and they went with a different logo placement and the use of Clone tech in the upper. Some people loved the design and others hated it. But one thing was for sure- they got people talking. Many critics pointed out that these shoes seemed to be much less unique than Joel Embiid's first shoe and looked like other typical Under Armour shoes.

Despite all the controversy, there has still been no word from Under Armour, and we continue to wait for the Embiid 2 to be released.

Some people say that Under Armour didn't like how the shoe design leak was received by the public, so they rebranded it as the HOVR Havoc Clone SP. A quick look on Under Armour's website will confirm that the shoe that was leaked in March of 2021 is, indeed, being sold as the HOVR Havoc Clone SP. The pink version of the leaked image shows that it is the same shoe, but in a different colorway. The insole, however, has been changed, which would have had to be done as part of the rebranding.

It is unclear what has happened to Joel Embiid's next signature shoe release date, but we can be sure of a few things. Joel Embiid continues to slay on the court for the Philadelphia 76'ers and Under Armour keeps pumping out incredible basketball shoes, known for their durability and quality. Although a release was expected by the end of 2021, it is now unclear if a shoe with this exact name will ever be released.
