Who is LeBron James Wife?
Savannah James has been a constant presence in her husband LeBron's life since they were teenagers. LeBron, one of the most famous athletes of his generation, has described her as his queen and the person without whom he would be "absolutely nothing." Despite her husband's high profile and their glamorous lifestyle, Savannah has maintained a quiet dignity, shying away from the limelight as much as possible.
Born on August 27, 1986, in Akron, Ohio, Savannah is the youngest of five children. Her mother, Jennifer, and father, JK, were always known for their kindness and generosity, and they instilled those values in their children. Savannah's parents always had an open-door policy, and if her friends needed a safe haven, they knew they could count on Jennifer and JK to welcome them with open arms.
Savannah's upbringing was a relatively normal one. She attended St. Vincent-St. Mary High School in Akron, where she excelled in her studies. The two were both athletes, with LeBron playing basketball and football and Savannah running track and playing softball. They met when Savannah was a 16-year-old high school sophomore, and LeBron was a year older and attending a rival school.
According to Savannah, LeBron first asked a friend for her phone number, but she decided to take his number instead. "One day I'm sitting around — I was probably bored or something — and I'm like, 'Oh, I forgot! I have this number for this guy that I can call. He seemed interested, so let's see,' " she said. LeBron invited her to one of his basketball games, and the pair linked up with friends to go to Applebee's afterward. Their first solo date, at Outback Steakhouse, came a few weeks later.
Savannah knew it was love pretty quickly, telling Harper's Bazaar in 2010: "I knew he loved me when I left my leftovers from dinner in his car. I'd totally forgotten about them, and he brought them to me. I think he just wanted another excuse to come and see me."
The couple has been together ever since. They weathered some tough times early on when Savannah became pregnant with their first child, LeBron "Bronny" James Jr., during her senior year of high school. Of the experience, she told Harper's Bazaar, "I was thinking, 'What am I going to tell my parents? What's going to happen to his career?' I was very scared. I was bawling. But [LeBron] said, 'It's not going to slow me down, and it's not going to slow you down. We're going to keep doing what we have to do.' "
The couple has since added two more children to their brood: Bryce Maximus and Zhuri Nova. The James family is very close-knit, with Savannah and LeBron both placing a high value on family time. They often post pictures and videos of their family on social media, showing a fun-loving and close family unit.
Savannah has never been one to bask in the limelight. She finds fame "kind of weird," and she admits that she gets "a little bit clammy" when she has to walk the red carpet or appear on TV. However, she has been making a name for herself in her own right with her personal business ventures and her passion for giving back to young people.
In 2017, Savannah launched her mentorship program Women of Our Future, which provides one-on-one counseling and support to girls in Akron. The program seeks to help young girls build confidence and develop the skills they need to become future leaders. Savannah is also involved in the LeBron James Family Foundation, which supports educational initiatives and provides resources to help young people succeed.
