Did Steph Curry Graduate College?
Steph Curry has accomplished a lot in his life. In addition to being a four-time NBA champion and two-time league MVP, Curry is also a college graduate. On August 31, 2022, Curry graduated from Davidson College with a Bachelor of Science degree in Sociology. This accomplishment is particularly impressive because Curry turned pro after his junior season at Davidson. Nonetheless, he was able to complete the final coursework remotely that he needed to graduate and earned his degree.
In addition to receiving his diploma, Curry had his now-famous No. 30 jersey number retired by Davidson. He was also inducted into the Davidson College Athletic Hall of Fame. This is the first time that an athlete in any sport at Davidson College has had their jersey number retired. The school has a long-standing rule that athletes must have a degree in order to be inducted into the Davidson College Athletic Hall of Fame. They were going to make an exception for Curry, due to how much he has done for the school, but Curry refused, stating he would get his degree just like everyone had to - and he did.
Mayor Rusty Knox of Davidson was there as well as Curry's wife and the couple's three children: Riley, 10; Ryan, 7; and Canon, 4. About 5000 other people were in attendance as they watched Steph Curry, dressed in cap and gown shake hands and offer hugs before sitting down next to Ayesha. 13 years after leaving Davidson, Steph had earned his bachelor's degree in sociology with honors.
At his graduation, Steph held up his diploma grinning from ear to ear before throwing his hat high into the air on stage to the cheers of the crowd as they chanted "MVP!"
"The best decision I ever made was to come to Davidson College," Steph said during his speech adding that he cried when he decided to leave early for the Nba. "What Davidson stands for lives with me every time I step on the court and every time I try to impact lives...How we represent Davidson in every room we walk into - it matters."
